"This July I was privileged to share an artists residency in Dinan, France with painting friend Lesley Rich.  We stayed in a lovely two bedroom historical vignette along the banks of the river in the Port de Dinan.  Our views were wonderful and the town quaint with a quick hike to the upper old town of Dinan, one of the oldest in France.  Prior to arriving at Dinan I spent five days in Paris enjoying the treasure of museums and exploring the avenues and shops of Paris.  Once in Brittany we spent nearly every day of the month crisscrossing the countryside.  The luxury of having no set plans gave us the opportunity to stop and paint whenever and wherever we found a scene that moved us.  The area was so wonderfully rich that there was never a shortage of varied painting subject matter. Every village was worth a painting.  We had a variety of weather so our paintings reflect the atmosphere of the day.  Rain, fog, sun and beautiful cloud formations, we never knew what to expect.   And if we were lucky we could get Moules (mussels) and fries for lunch at a local cafe.  So much subject matter and so little time.  "

Lindy Duncan's fresh, assured canvases vibrate with rich color and vibrant light. One of California's brightest talents she is a Juried Artist Member of the California Art Club,  a Signature Member of Alla Prima International and a signature member of En Couleur, a group of six California colorists. She is also an artist member of Oil Painters of America and of Laguna Plein Airs Painters' Association. 

Recently she won an Honorable Mention at the San Juan Capistrano Plein Air Event, a First Place Oils in the 2000 Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, CA and a 2nd Place Oils in 2001, as well as a First Place Oils in the Best & Brightest show 2001, Scottsdale Artist School, Scottsdale, AZ. Lindy won three awards in Plein Air Tucson 2001 - Best Color Award, Best Patterns & Texture and Judges' Favorite Award!

Born in Canada, she now lives near the Monterey coastline with her family, where she often paints en plein air.

Canadian born, Lindy has spent the greater part of her life in the California Bay Area. Her home is in Aromas near the Monterey coastline. Lindy has been drawing and painting since childhood. Traditional introduction to plein air painting was provided by the academy of plein air painters. Inspirational and educational to her is the study of old California and Russian painters as well as the work of many contemporary artists.
