Chuck Volz paints the west
with a rich and subtle pallet and a rare sensitivity to the nuances of light
in the landscape. Originally from Oregon and then the California Bay

Chuck studied art at
the University of Oregon and German at the University of California, Berkeley.
He lived for several years in Germany during which time he painted in the the
Abstract Expressionist style. Upon returning to the United States he
rediscovered the beauty of the western landscape and found that responding to
his impressions in paint was a natural and extremely gratifying thing to do.
Chuck has exhibited widely and is in both private and corporate
collections.

“Although
representational, my work at this point is less literal than interpretive. I
paint outside on location as much as possible for the spontaneity and
immediacy which comes with working directly from nature. Regarding subject
matter, I am drawn to the contrasts and compliments in nature’s diverse
elements and the overall sense of balance there.”
